May The 7th of October Be With You!

Earlier in the year, the Templin Institute released a reimagining of the First Order from the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Almost immediately we were hit with a wave of requests asking that we do the same for the New Republic. Well, in just a few hours from the time this post goes live, we’ll be delivering on that!

Creating a reimagined version of the New Republic was a bit of a challenge, especially because there’s very little concept art or other visuals relating to it. What did it planets look like? What did it ships and fleets look like? In the absence of any official material we again approached our friend Joan Piqué Llorens, The Templin Institute’s “Artist in Residence”. And again, I’m happy to say he knocked it out of the park.

Unlike our previous reimagining of the First Order, the “MC/CR-108 Endor Class” featured in this artwork is an entirely original concept. That said, we did look pretty extensively at a lot of the concepts for the MC-75 featured in Rogue One, and even some of the original Ralph McQuarrie dating back to the Return of the Jedi. Hopefully what we’ve ended up with matches the aesthetics of the Star Wars universe while still feeling new and hopefully badass.

On either side of it you’ll notice a few MC85s from The Last Jedi and a variety of starfighters designed by our friend EC Henry!

We’re proud to release this artwork for all personnel in HD resolution, but if you’d like to get your hands on the 4k sized variant, you’ll find it over on our Patreon.
